Henderson County junior point guard Xavion Johnson has been named December Athlete of the Month after helping lead the Colonels to an 8–3 record through a demanding December schedule that included multiple holiday tournament matchups.

Johnson averaged 15.6 points per game while shooting 54% from the field, 33% from three-point range, and 84% from the free-throw line. His month was highlighted by a 24-point performance in a road win at Castle on Dec. 5, a 23-point outing against Thomas Nelson during the Generals’ Christmas Classic on Dec. 21, and games of 19 and 17 points in recent home contests.

Johnson consistently controlled the tempo of games from the point guard position. Whether finding teammates or taking over scoring responsibilities, the junior played with poise.

Beyond scoring, Johnson’s rebounding impact stood out. Despite playing the guard position, he leads the Colonels at 4.7 boards per game, routinely creating extra possessions and starting transition for the Colonels.

Xavion on his performances: “I’m grateful to be recognized as Athlete of the Month. It represents more than my performances, but more so my teammates and coaches. We are glad to be going into the New Year at 8-3, and we are looking to keep the momentum rolling into district play.”
