A bank account has been set up for donations to help the family whose house near Niagara exploded early on the morning of Oct. 25.
To help, Harold, Kim and Nicole Dover, people can go to the Fifth-Third Bank branch in Henderson and ask to donate to the fund started by Merilin Kurtz, said Kenny Garrett, the director of the Henderson Office of Emergency Management. Kurtz is the mother of Kim Dover, he said.
All three were badly burned in the blaze and were air lifted to regional hospitals for treatment.
Garrett said all three, as of Thursday, were still hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The Henderson OEM has been working with the family and assisting in getting supplies for because the Dovers will need to stay with family upon their return to Henderson, he said.
“We are still communicating with the family on a daily basis and providing them resources that they need,” Garrett said.
Neighbors of the Dover residence at 16271 Ky. 136-East say a loud explosion shook their houses at about 7 a.m. Nov. 25. They also said that the explosion occurred when a propane furnace was trying to be lit.
Volunteer fire crews arrived minutes later and worked into the afternoon to get the fire fully extinguished.
