Brody Belt| Football | Athlete of the Week for week ending Oct. 25

Junior quarterback Brody Belt was efficient both through the air and on the ground in Friday night’s matchup against McCracken County. Belt threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 44 rushing yards on five carries in the district loss, a performance that earned him this week’s Athlete of the Week honors.
Belt has been a steady leader under center all season. The junior has totaled 962 passing yards and 10 touchdowns with just half as many interceptions. He’s also contributed on the ground, running for over 100 yards and two scores.
Reflecting on his performance, Belt said, “I’m grateful to be named Athlete of the Week. We knew coming in that the offense had to be nearly flawless to compete. McCracken started strong with a big drive for a touchdown and then recovered the onside kick, but we answered right back with a score of our own. We were hitting the gaps hard in the run game and completing the passes we needed to, but we just came up a little short. Overall, I think this game was a wake-up call for us and gave us more motivation heading into the playoffs.”
