Because of demolition work at the former Ky. 2084 interchange with U.S. 41, southbound U.S. 41 is expected to close overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.

All lanes will be closed and traffic will be detoured, said Mindy Peterson, spokesperson for the I-69 Ohio River Crossing.

The closure is scheduled from 12 a.m.-4 a.m., said a release from I-69 ORX.

The release also said there will be associated noise during the demolition work, and patience is requested from those in the area, said the release.

The work is happening at night to minimize impacts to motorists and to get the work done as quickly and as safely as possible, said the release.

The interchange is being removed and the area regraded because the Ky. 2084 interchange was too close to the Ky. 351 interchange to meet interstate standards, said the release.

I-69 ORX also pointed out other upcoming traffic changes:

Airline Road Bridge Closure

The Airline Road overpass bridge at US 41 is scheduled to close on or after Monday, April 21 and is anticipated to be closed until this summer, said I-69 ORX. Crews are completing extensive work and replacing the superstructure, which includes the beams and bridge deck. Crews will also make upgrades to the barrier and guardrail. The work should be complete in August.

The signed detour route includes Garden Mile Drive, Airline Road, Adams Lane, KY 2084, KY 351/Second Street.

U.S. 41 under the Airline Road bridge is expected to close overnight Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22. The closures are scheduled 12 a.m.-4 a.m. Limited rolling closures may also be needed.

Adams Lane Bridge – Expected to Reopen

Significant improvements are also being made at the Adams Lane overpass bridge over U.S. 41, said I-69 ORX. Work started in December, and the bridge is expected to reopen by mid- to late-May. When Adams Lane reopens, it will provide another alternate route during the Airline Road bridge closure.

 US 60 Traffic Shift

Around Thursday, April 24, traffic will shift and begin using new pavement on the roundabouts under construction at the new US 60 interchange. Traffic will be utilizing the outside lane of all three roundabouts.
