Adams Lane bridge opens

The Adams Lane bridge over U.S. 41 opened on Friday.

According to the I-69 Ohio River Crossing, crews have replaced the superstructure, which includes the beams and bridge deck.

Crews also made upgrades to the barrier and guardrail. The improvements will greatly extend the life of the bridge.

Drivers should look for crews completing finishing touches at the Adams Lane bridge over the next several weeks, I-69 ORX. Work will include final asphalt surfacing, drainage boxes, curb and gutters.

Officials say that reopening the bridge will provide another option for drivers impacted by the recent closure of the Airline Road bridge over U.S. 41.

The official detour for Airline Road closure will now be routed on Adams Lane. Road signs will be installed marking the new detour. Similar improvements are underway on the Airline Road bridge. The Airline Road bridge is expected to reopen in August

City starts street milling Monday

The city of Henderson will begin milling streets and alleys this week in preparation for patching, paving and repair projects, said a release from the city.

Work will be done over the next two to three weeks, but the schedule is subject to change as it is influenced by weather conditions and other factors.

Temporary closures and/or delays may occur during construction, said the city.

The city also asked that residents move all vehicles from the street by 6 a.m. each day until the work is completed.

If road closures are required, detours will be set up, and there will be flaggers and/or signs to direct traffic during construction, the city said.

Here is a list of public streets/areas on the work list:

  • Fagan Street from Clay Street to Meadow Street
  • O’Byrne Street from Meadow Street to Mill Street
  • Russell Drive from Old Madisonville Road to Country Drive
  • Turnagain Drive from Old Madisonville Road to 1755 Turnagain Dive
  • North and South Downey Drive from Turnagain Drive to the end of the road
  • Sand Lane from South Green Street to South Main Street
  • Bittersweet Lane from Heather Lane to 513 Bittersweet Lane
  • SportPlex parking lot will receive surface asphalt

For more information or if you have questions, call the city at (270) 831-1200.
