Four inducted into HCHS Alumni Hall of Fame

Henderson County High School recently announced that Dr. Michelle Chappell, Missy Vanderpool and Casey Todd are each being inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame class of 2024. Additionally, Holli Blanford is being honored as the Outstanding Young Alumna Award recipient.

Chappell, 1991 HCHS graduate, is the program coordinator for the Information Technologies Program at Henderson Community College. Chappell in 2021 established a mentoring program called “Transition to Beyond” at HCHS, working with underrepresented minority juniors and seniors.

Vanderpool, a 1993 HCHS graduate, is the executive director of Henderson Economic Development.  She’s also a Henderson Leadership Initiative fellow and a graduate of the Delta Regional Authority’s Leadership Institute. She was also recently accepted into Harvard’s Effective Leadership Across Sectors program, which she will complete in November.

Todd, a 2008 HCHS graduate, is a real estate developer and restaurateur who runs three local favorites, Hometown Roots, Roast and Homer’s Barbecue. He also serves on numerous nonprofit boards and community organizations.

Blanford currently works as the city of Henderson’s public relations director after stints at Henderson Community College and Field & Main Bank. She’s also served as the president of Rotary, one of a few females to take on the role and the youngest. She is a 2014 HCHS graduate.

“These recipients embody Colonel excellence,” said Henderson County High School Principal Amber Thomas. “We are so proud of their impact on our community and the model they provide for current and future Colonels. Their accomplishments will now be permanently written into Henderson County High School history.”

The induction ceremony and dinner will be held in the Preston Media Center at Henderson County High School on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased through November 21 by utilizing the attached link: https://bit.ly/3BX62Nx

Warren goes into the CPAK Hall of Fame

Dr. Jason Warren

Dr. Jason Warren, president and CEO of Henderson Community College, has been named to the College Personnel Association of Kentucky Hall of Fame Class of 2024, said a release from the college.

CPAK is Kentucky’s professional association for student affairs and student services professionals. Since 2018, the CPAK Hall of Fame has honored professionals who have made significant contributions to higher education in Kentucky through leadership and service at the institutional, state, regional, and national levels.

Warren has served as president of HCC since February 2019. Before his tenure at HCC, Warren worked for 14 years as chief student affairs officer at Hopkinsville Community College, where he was also the founding coordinator of the Upward Bound program. Additionally, he has taught higher education administration courses as an adjunct instructor at Murray State University and the University of Louisville.

Warren holds a doctorate in educational leadership and organizational development, a master’s degree in education administration and a bachelor’s degree in counseling and guidance, all from the University of Louisville. He is also an active member of several civic and economic development organizations.
