Name: Brad Schneider

Age: 60

Party: Republican

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, University of Evansville

Experience: My previous professional experience includes more than 20 years as a print journalist at newspapers in the Tri-State, 10 of which were served at The Gleaner; five years as president of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, and just over two years as CEO of KYNDLE, a regional economic development organization headquartered in Henderson.

Current occupation: Since March of 2016 I have served as Henderson County Judge-Executive.

Family: Married since 1996 to Henderson-native Kelly Blanford Schneider, CEO of the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center in Evansville; Two adult sons, Benjamin and Nicholas; one grandson, Bentley.

Why did you decide to run for re-election?

I am running for re-election because I am proud of the significant progress Henderson County has made on several fronts during my tenure. I want to continue that work in close partnership with the members of Henderson County Fiscal Court, our county’s Constitutional officers, other county department heads, our colleagues at the City of Henderson, the City of Corydon and the City of Robards, Henderson Economic Development, leadership at our utilities, community organizations, our neighboring counties and our representatives in Frankfort and Washington, D.C.

Why do you believe you are the best choice for this seat?

  • County Government is in the strongest financial condition it’s been in recent history.
  • In the last five years county government has helped attract more than $1 billion in public and private investments in our community with $1 billion more due in the next five years.
  • In the last seven years county government has played a significant role in announcements of almost 1,000 new good-paying local jobs.
  • The county has been a key advocate in bringing to near-fruition the I-69 Ohio River bridge with more advocacy work still to be done.
  • Due to our financial stability, the county has been able to invest millions of dollars to improve local roads, bridges, parks, public safety, disaster recovery, water infrastructure, elections, the airport and community services.
  • With even more opportunities and challenges on the horizon, it’s important the county have an experienced, proven, successful leader as Judge-Executive.

What are your top priorities for the next term, if elected?

  • Help secure the final round of funding necessary to assure the construction of the I-69 bridge.
  • Reduce the county’s insurance premium tax by 50 percent.
  •  Help attract a new, large employer to the build-ready site at 4 Star Industrial Park.
  • Help facilitate lawful, just and equitable solutions to how future power-producing and storage technologies are permitted and regulated here, taking into account the concerns and rights of all the citizens of our county.
  • Help continue to improve county government’s effectiveness, efficiency, competence, transparency and accessibility.

A final brief statement to support your candidacy.

Since 2016, the people of Henderson County have trusted me to be their Judge-Executive. I have been re-elected three times, either unopposed or by wide margins, a sign of approval that tells me the community believes we are on the right track at county government. I humbly ask for your support to serve another term and keep the positive momentum going. Great things are happening in Henderson County!
