Deaconess will hold its first annual Breast Friends Survivor Walk on Oct. 5, said a release from the hospital.
It’s a celebration of strength, resilience and hope for those affected by breast cancer and those who love them organized by Deaconess Cancer Services and Deaconess Breast Services.
This free community event will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Wesselman Woods, said the release, which also added that the Breast Friends Survivor Walk “is not just a walk—it’s a powerful demonstration of support for breast cancer survivors, their families and the entire community.”
Participants will enjoy:
· A non-competitive walk through scenic Wesselman Woods
· Educational vendors providing resources on survivorship, detection and breast health
· Kid-friendly activities
· The “MEGA Breasts” inflatable display, offering an interactive learning experience about breast cancer’s impact
· A special memorial to honor those lost to breast cancer
“This event embodies our commitment to supporting breast cancer survivors and raising awareness,” said Lisa Hirsch, director of Deaconess Oncology Center of Excellence. “We invite everyone — survivors, families, friends and supporters — to join us in this celebration of life and hope. We want to raise awareness, support survivors and contribute to the ongoing fight against breast cancer.”
Event registration is free and open to all. Participants can purchase a Breast Friends T-shirt for $20, with proceeds benefiting the Deaconess Foundation’s breast cancer support initiatives.
To guarantee a T-shirt, registration must be completed by September 20. To register for the Breast Friends Survivor Walk or to purchase a T-shirt, visit deaconess.com/BreastFriends.
