Kailyn Franks | Wrestling | Athlete of the Week for week ending Jan. 17

Kailyn Franks delivered an outstanding showing over the weekend at the 1st annual Lady Colonel Duals, winning the 138-pound division. Facing off against tough teams in their home gym, Franks finished undefeated with six wins as one of four flawless wrestlers for the Lady Colonels, powering the team to a perfect 6-0 mark and securing 1st place. She also added four pins to her tally.

Earlier this month, Kailyn Franks delivered another strong performance at the Lady Bruin Invitational, held at Central Hardin. Competing in a large field, Franks went strong in the 132-pound division to claim 2nd place, helping the Lady Colonels secure 3rd place overall out of 32 teams with 108 points in a dominant team showing. Kailyn has been integral to a Lady Colonels’ team that is regarded as one of the top-10 teams in the state.

Reflecting on her performances, Franks said, “First, I want to give thanks for being selected as athlete of the week. This past weekend was amazing for the girls’ team hosting our first annual Lady Colonel Duals. We took first place, winning every dual as a team. Myself and a few other girls went undefeated at the dual tournament, and I couldn’t be more proud of all of my girls. I love my team and my coaches who make me better on and off the mat every single day. I’m ready for the postseason to be able to accomplish my goals of being a state placer this year.”
