Not everyone has the same opinion

Dear Editor:

First off, I would like to say thank you to G. Herbert Pritchett for the letter in the last issue providing some real information and facts on wind turbines and solar issues. He reminded citizens how cell towers, transmission lines and interstates are not pretty, and also things that people might not have wanted in the beginning, but look at how they have improved our lives! Where would we be today without them?

Several of the citizens opposed to the project are saying things and stating ‘not true facts’ to mislead the public and turn them against progress that could be a benefit to their grandchildren and future generations to come. They have their minds made up and will not  listen to both sides. At meetings, they burst out and talk while the other side is talking, which is very disrespectful to the speaker and the citizens trying to listen. Some of the citizens opposed don’t even live near the area. They just want to complain, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but don’t be disrespectful.

Thanks also to Doug Briggs for mentioning how some think they have the right to tell landowners what they can or can not do with their own land!  Oil and coal have been a way of life for generations, still putting food on the table for many families, but times are changing and now people don’t want change.

Most of the new candidates who have recently decided to run in the election for county judge-executive and magistrate are making it clear that the main reason they are running is because they are opposed to the wind project! So, if that was not an issue, would they have even signed up to run? We must hope they have good reasons and not just because they are opposed to one issue! If not, do they know the ins and outs of the  government policies and what all is involved in the position they are applying for?

Before you vote, think about if this person is experienced and qualified and if this is the kind of person you want making important decisions for our county!  My opinion is that the elected officials we have right now are doing a fine job!

L. Jean Eblen
