A man who was the victim of a weekend shooting on the East End has died, Henderson police said Thursday morning.
The man’s name is Cliff Hargis. He was pronounced dead 7:08 p.m. Tuesday at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, according to his obituary.
What occurred—and how Hargis got shot—Saturday night is still unclear.
Police released two videos in connection to the shooting in which several people are seen wandering around, and in one, a person opens fire on a passing car.
According to a Monday release from HPD, police were called at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday to the area of the 1200 block of Cumnock Street in response to a report of multiple shots fired.
During a canvas of the neighborhood, investigators located video footage of at least one person firing a handgun, said the release. The shooter was with several other individuals prior to firing their handgun, police said. After the shots were fired, the group left in different directions on foot.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who had a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police say he was taken to hospital for treatment, and according to a Monday release, was expected to survive.
HPD Public Information Officer Jason Cullum said as of Thursday afternoon the department is not ready to release any additional information.
