Henderson Municipal Power & Light General Manager Brad Bickett said Tuesday afternoon there were still about 750 customers without power.

He said most customers still without power were in Frontier Village, around Canoe Creek Drive and Arbor Drive, Dixon and South Main streets, and Eighth Street and Craig Drive.

Smaller clusters of those without power are in various areas of the city, Bickett said.

He said crews will continue to work on the areas where the most customers are and will continue working 24 hours a day until at least Sunday.

He said workers will probably get to the areas with less customers or individual customers toward the end of the week.

Another risk with the work will come when temperatures dip into the teens or lower, which is expected this week. He said any kind of wind could cause branches to snap. Additionally, if snow predicted for Friday is wet, it could gather on already icy power lines and cause them to fall, Bickett said.

Crews from six different cities that are a part of the Indiana Municipal Energy Association are assisting the effort, Bickett said.

To report an outage, HMP&L customers call 270-631-0660. Outage Center – HENDERSON MUNICIPAL POWER & LIGHT

Leslie Barr, Kenergy’s public relations and communications specialist, said at about 4 p.m. Tuesday 1,700 of the utility’s customers were still without power.

Barr said the utility is dealing with 213 separate outages, many small pockets of outages, which causes difficulties because of the need for analyzing the circuitry of each—no matter the size.

She also said that crew are finding more broken poles than initially, and fixing those are more time-consuming.

Barr said that if customers get a message that power has been restored but it’s not on their residence, the first action to take is to check their own breakers. If the breakers are flipped and power is still not on, customers are advised to again report the outage to Kenergy. To report outages, Kenergy customers call 800-844-4832. During an Outage – Kenergy Corp

Kenergy is receiving help from crews from Owensboro Municipal Utilities, Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative and West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative.

Additionally, Kentucky Utilities reported that about 35 customers were still without power as of 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Henderson County Government’s Facebook page reported that the Salvation Army on Washington Street in Henderson will once again be open Tuesday evening as an overnight shelter or warming center. Also, City Hall in Robards will also be open tonight for those needing to get warm, said the county government’s Facebook post. And according to Henderson Office of Emergency Management, homeless accommodations at the Harbor House and the Father Bradley Shelter are now full.
