Vehicle services at the Henderson County Clerk’s Office will not be offered from Dec. 30-Jan. 8 because the Kentucky Department of Transportation will be implementing a system upgrade throughout the state, including at the local office, according to a release from Henderson County Clerk Renesa Abner.
“Please note that there will be no motor vehicle and boat renewals or transfers, or disabled parking permit processing from December 30 – January 8,” said the release.
The upgrade will involve transferring 350 million records from a 40-year-old system to a new and improved one, and will require county clerks’ offices statewide to shut down vehicle services during that time, the release said.
Abner also said that residents needing to make December vehicle renewals or transfers should do so before the closure on Dec. 30. Visit the county clerk’s office or online at drive.ky.gov to complete that business.
Deed room, land record recordings and election services will not be affected and will be open as usual.
The county clerk’s office will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1 and Tuesday, Jan. 2.
The reopening of the motor vehicle department is expected to occur at the Henderson County Clerk’s office on Jan. 9, said the release.
