A man who on Wednesday allegedly shot at a vehicle—in which a bullet grazed a passenger—has turned himself in to authorities, say police.
According to a Henderson Police Department release, Drake A. Cook, 20, turned himself in at the Probation and Parole office on Friday.
Cook had been wanted for second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a felon, said police.
He was lodged in Henderson County Detention Center where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Police said that the vehicle that Cook shot at was occupied by two 17-year-olds and the passenger in the vehicle was grazed by the bullet.
The incident occurred on Alves Street between Clay Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at about 1 p.m., police said.
After the shooting, the driver of the vehicle drove on to McDonald’s on the corner of Washington and South Green streets, where he works, and a 911 call was made from there, police said.
At the parking lot Wednesday, the victims were interviewed by police, and the maroon Dodge Avenger involved in the incident had a bullet hole in the rear window.
Nearby schools were put on modified lockdown soon after the incident, and a later post from HPD said that schools were in no danger.
Police said Friday that they were still working on the reason for the shooting.
