A downtown Henderson church will once again host its annual “‘Tis The Season” event on Saturday, Dec. 7, immediately following the Henderson Christmas Parade.
First United Methodist Church is the site for the free event and organizers invite parade-goers to stop by after the parade for lunch and giveaways.
“The focus is gifting our community with lunch, children’s gifts, gently used Christmas decorations, photo opportunities, prayers and fellowship,” said organizer Cathy Motter, who volunteers with the church Mission Team.
The parade, which weaves its way through downtown from its starting point at Fifth and Main, goes around Central Park and returns on Elm Street, starts at 10 a.m.
The church with the brick-colored dome is located on Green Street near the intersection with Second Street. Those attending the event are asked to enter the West Door on the Elm Street side of the church closest to the Old National Bank drive-thru.
Church members have been collecting new and used Christmas decorations, cards, wrapping paper, costume jewelry, items for children and other items for the giveaways.
“We invite all to participate and start the holiday season off with a lot of love,” Motter said.
