Buffalo Wild Wings coming to U.S. 41-North location

Buffalo Wild Wings—commonly called BW3’s—is coming to Henderson. But don’t expect to sit and watch ballgames while swilling beer at the U.S. 41-North location.

The planned eatery will be a walk-in and pick-up to go location, Daniel Pund, a representative of the company, said at Tuesday evening’s Henderson-Henderson County Joint Planning Commission meeting.

The planning commission unanimously approved the site plan.

The restaurant will take up a space of the current building where Dunkin’ Donuts is located, said Jennifer Marks, the assistant director of the planning commission. There’s still a third space available within the building, and Marks said that may be occupied in the future.

Pund said the BW3 space will have a couple tables and some chairs but the design of it will be a grab and go operation. There’s also won’t be a drive-through window.

HWU begins work Monday to replace old water and sewer lines

Henderson Water Utility will begin work to replace aging potable water and sanitary sewer lines on Dec. 9, according to a city of Henderson release.

The project will include the replacement of aging potable water and sanitary sewer mains and service lines along portions of Washington Street, Alvasia Street and Clay Street.

The release said that many of the utility mains installed in the late 1800s.

Deig Brothers Lumber and Construction Company, the project’s contractor, anticipates the completion of the project in August 2025.

Residents and businesses may experience temporary interruptions to their water and sewer services during the improvement project.

Construction activity will take place near homes and businesses and temporary disruptions to street access and parking will occur, as well.

The planned upgrades are part of an ongoing commitment to providing high-quality utility services to residents by enhancing service reliability and ensuring the health and safety of the community.

For more information, please contact Henderson Water Utility at (270) 826-2421. To stay up to date with the project, please visit hkywater.org.

Memorial Mass for Fr. Ed Bradley will be Saturday, Dec. 14

Holy Name of Jesus will host a memorial Mass for Fr. Ed Bradley at 12 noon on Dec. 14, according to the church.

Bradley, who was pastor at Holy Name from 1995-2011, died Nov. 30.

The entire community is welcome to come remember his life and ministry to the people of Henderson.

Following the Mass, there will be a reception, with the opportunity to share memories of Fr. Bradley.

Offerings for the Father Bradley Shelter for Women and Children will be accepted for a contribution in his memory.

Silk Velvet hits local store shelves Monday

Silk Velvet Whiskey, a spirit first distilled in 1800s Henderson, makes its official comeback Monday.

The official launch of the whiskey will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Beverage Barn at 510 Barret Blvd.

For the first time in more than 100 years, Silk Velvet Whiskey will be available on store shelves, said a release from the brand. Henderson native Mark Hargis and sons, Zach and Zeb, are responsible for re-booting the historic brand, which they say they’ve taken great care to stay true to the spirit of Silk Velvet.

“This isn’t just a whiskey; it’s a story. A piece of Henderson’s past that we are proud to share,” said Zeb Hargis.

“This is a 6-year, 107 proof bourbon that is a product of 8th generation master distiller Jacob Call,” Zach Hargis said. “We are incredibly excited to see this product hit shelves.”
