Body of Marty Dill exhumed Monday morning

The body of a man who could have been connected to the disappearance of Heather Teague almost 30 years ago was exhumed from the gravesite Monday morning at Fairmont Cemetery.

The body of Marty Dill was exhumed to take a DNA sample, said Kentucky State Police Trooper Corey King.

According to multiple reports, Dill was named a suspect in the August 26, 1995, disappearance of Teague. But he died by suicide before authorities could question him.

Authorities with Kentucky State Police and the Henderson County Coroner’s office were on hand to assist Monday morning. They worked for about three hours in the morning, King said.

HWU says Washington Street project to be done mid-November

Henderson Water Utility Director of Engineering Matt Calvert told a small audience Monday night that the water main and sewer replacement project in the East End should be complete by mid- November.

The HWU project is replacing some water lines that are “well over 100 years old” and “in dire need to be replaced.”

The cost of the project is $4.6 million, Calvert said.

It started last December, when crews began replacing lines on Alvasia Street as they worked toward Washington Street. Calvert said all work has been completed on Alvasia Street now.

Now the work will turn left from Alvasia onto Washingon. Calvert said work on Washington Street is now progressing toward Green Street. He said the work up to Adams Street should be done by mid-September and then all the way to Green Street by mid-November, when the pipe replacement in the project will be complete.

Final paving for the entire project will be done next spring, officials said.
