Emmy Sword | Volleyball | Athlete of the Week for week ending Sept. 13

Sword had an all-around fantastic week for the Lady Colonels Volleyball team, who picked up five wins, including three at the Quad Match at Ohio County on Saturday. They also claimed victories over region rivals Heritage Christian and Madisonville earlier in the week. According to Head Coach Kelli Harris, Sword collected 47 kills, 83 digs and 21 aces overall throughout the week. Sword leads the team with 58 aces on the season. Harris called Sword just one part of the team’s success, crediting each player who has stepped up and “shined” at different times.
Coach Harris on Sword: “Emmy definitely had a stellar week for us…She is growing into an all-around volleyball player, and her contributions have helped us find success in all aspects of the game. She is a natural athlete and is driven to play volleyball in college…Her energy is infectious and she brings a level of knowledge to the game that brings our team to a new level.”
Sword on her outstanding week: “I’m really proud of how my team and I have performed this week! We’ve all come a long way from last year as a team and individuals. My teammates and coaches give me the confidence I need to perform well. We’ve been working hard in practice to get the win in region this year!”
