Henderson County Schools releases 2026-2027 school calendar

At the Monday evening meeting of the Board of Education, the board approved the 2026–2027 school calendar. The first day of school for students is Aug. 13, 2026.

Corkscrew Curiosities has a Little Free Pantry

Corkscrew Curiosities has set up a new Little Free Pantry, a warming box / blessing box located at 920 Second Street in Henderson, right next to Lee’s Barbershop.

It is located on the front porch of Corkscrew Curiosities and is available 24/7 for community need, no questions asked, said a release from the business.

“This new warming box is a way for our neighbors to give what they can and take what they need,” said the release.

The store said the warming box is available immediately, and donations will be taken in the box or inside Corkscrew Curiosities, and any excess donations will be distributed among other Henderson warming boxes.

Needs include non-perishable, unexpired, unopened food items (cans with pop tabs preferred), hygiene items, feminine products, warming items, etc.

Corkscrew Curiosities said to reach out to the store with any questions about donations. The number is 270-883-2626.
