Name:  Keith C. Berry

Party: Republican

Age:  66

Education: Webster County High School; KY Department of Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Academy; 320.5 hours of Department of Local Government Training (i.e. Disaster Preparedness, Insurance Issues, Floodplain Management, etc.)

Experience: Henderson County Fiscal Court (Magistrate District 1) – 7 years; Road Department Committee; Drainage District Committee; Surface Mine Committee; 911 Board; Henderson County Sheriff’s Office – 27.5 years; Retired as Lieutenant and Supervisor of Traffic Division; Total law enforcement experience – 31 years

Current Occupation: Henderson County Fiscal Court (Magistrate District 1); Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners Audit Board

Family: Spouse – Sue Berry

Why did you decide to run for re-election?

I have served Henderson County for seven years as a member of the Henderson County Fiscal Court.  We have accomplished a great deal. At this time the county is debt free and we have a reserve for emergencies and future county needs.  This I feel has been a major accomplishment along with the economic development of our county.  Securing Pratt Paper was a huge accomplishment.  Our Fiscal Court has also worked in cooperation with the Henderson City government in supporting and giving financial support for the Henderson Sports Complex.  Our fiscal court has worked to improve our infrastructure including our bridges and roads.  I feel that I am aware of the county’s financial history and the areas that continue to need improvement.  I would like to continue the work of the Henderson County Fiscal Court and make Henderson County the strongest we can be.

Why do you believe you are the best choice for this seat?

I have served Henderson County as Magistrate for the past seven years.  Prior to that I served Henderson County as a member of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for twenty-seven and one-half years.  I retired in the position of Lieutenant and Supervisor of the Traffic Division. Both positions have exposed me to the concerns and issues facing the citizens of Henderson County.  It also provided me with opportunities to interact with officials at both the local and state levels.  This is beneficial when confronting citizens concerns whether it can be addressed locally or be referred to another level such as state issues.  I have always considered what is best for Henderson County in my decisions and what would be the best for future generations.

What are your top priorities for the next term, if elected?

I will continue to serve the people of Henderson County to the best of my ability.  I will listen to the concerns of each citizen and will represent you to the best of my ability.

A final brief statement to support your candidacy.

I would like to thank the citizens of Henderson County for voting for me in the past and I would like their support in the future.  I will continue to work for each and every citizen just as I have for the past thirty-four and one-half years (Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Henderson County Fiscal Court).  Henderson County currently is in the top tier of Kentucky counties who are financially strong, and it is my desire to continue this trend.
