Warren named Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives staff member of the year

Henderson Chamber of Commerce employee Donna Warren was named the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives Staff Member of the year at the KCCE annual conference last week.

“We are beyond lucky to have Donna on our team and are absolutely over the moon that her 32 years of dedication and service to our members is being recognized in such a special way,” the chamber said on its Facebook page.

Governor approves grant for Henderson site

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday the approval of a Kentucky Product Development Initiative grant to complete the due diligence of a Henderson site.

The approximately 60-acre site is located on the 425 Bypass. The project involves completing the due diligence on the site, making it more desirable for potential new industries looking to locate in Henderson. Completion of this project will be the first step in ensuring this site is ready for future industrial development, said a Henderson Economic Development release.

The KDPI, housed under the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, funds up to $2 million per county per project site upgrades and infrastructure projects.

“HED’s forward thinking in participating in this program will continue to make Henderson one of the best places in Western Kentucky to locate a new industry,” said state Sen. Robby Mills.

“This new project ensures the adjacent 60 acres will be positioned to keep Henderson competitive and ready for the next site selection opportunity,” said HED Executive Director Missy Vanderpool. “We are truly grateful to our legislators for funding this program, and for the City of Henderson and Henderson Water Utility for their partnership in making this project possible.”

Adams Lane bridge will be closed briefly

A short-term closure is planned for the Adams Lane bridge over US 41. The bridge is expected to close around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 and reopen by Sunday, Oct. 12. Crews are completing needed drainage improvements, according to a release from I-69 Ohio River Crossing.

Signed detours will be in place utilizing Airline Road and KY 2084, said the release.
