Avant Baxter caught three touchdown passes and picked off a pass to help Henderson County cruise to a 44-12 victory over Central Hardin Friday night.

Playing on the road, the Colonels fell behind early but took the lead later in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Cols used big plays in the first quarter to take a 21-6 lead after the first frame. In the quarter, Baxter started off the scoring with a 50-yard touchdown reception. That was followed by a 90-yard punt return by Jack Dalton. The Cols capped off their scoring in the first with a 36-yard touchdown run by Anzerion Marigny.

HCHS led 28-6 at halftime and 35-12 at the end of three.

Baxter caught five balls for 145 yards, the leading receiver for the Cols. Colonel quarterback Brady Belt completed 12 of 22 passes for 212 yards with two interceptions.

HCHS rushed 38 times for 167 yards. Marigny led the Cols’ ground attack with 100 yards on 15 carries.

HCHS finished with 379 total yards while holding Central Hardin to 189.

The Colonels are back on the road next week, taking on 4-2 George Rogers Clark in Winchester. Game time is 7 p.m. Central.
