Henderson County Government along with with the cities of Corydon and Robards have established four drop-off sites where residents can dispose of tree debris from the early January winter storm, according to the county judge-executive’s office.
The drop-off sites are free.
The sites include the materials yard at Sandy Lee Watkins Park, the Henderson County Fairgrounds and Robards City Hall. These three sites will be open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
These sites, which will be staffed by county personnel who can assist in unloading the debris, will open on Monday and will continue to accept debris until March 1.
Any citizen of Henderson County, including Henderson city residents, can bring storm debris to these three locations, said a release from county government.
Additionally, a site next to Crawford Park in Corydon is currently open seven days a week during daytime hours. This drop-off site is available for residents of Corydon and rural areas immediately surrounding Corydon, said the release. It will close Feb. 7.
Only tree debris will be accepted at each site.
Officials say no construction demolition debris, tree root balls, tires or non-storm debris of any kind will be accepted.
Henderson County-based tree services bringing storm debris from the property of local residents will be allowed to use the sites, but no loads from out-of-county individuals or out-of-county businesses will be accepted, said the release.
Those using the sites must be prepared to show a government issued ID or valid license plate proving they are a Henderson County resident or tree service. There will not be a limit on the number of loads a household can bring. The Robards site will be under video surveillance at all times, said the release.
Henderson County residents who live outside the city of Henderson also have the option to burn storm debris on their properties, take debris to the city landfill during its regular hours or use private tree services to remove debris.
Local tree services should not charge customers a disposal fee if they plan to take the debris to one of the free drop-off sites, said the release.
