Hattie James Bridal opens
Local merchant Hattie Hancock cut the ribbon on her—and her family’s—newest downtown venture Friday—Hattie James, a bridal boutique that will start off focusing on wedding dresses.
In a short speech before cutting the ribbon, Hancock, 23, said it had been a goal of hers since she was eight years old to run a bridal store.
“This has been a lifelong dream,” she said.
Hancock, who has an eight-week-old son, Crafton, and whose husband, Mason, is a lineman in Florida working the cleanup efforts from recent hurricanes, said the work before her is much, but “it’s OK, we will make it” because there’s a “good village around us.”
A key piece of that village is mom, Holly Hartman, who with husband Chris owns ELITE Downtown, where her daughter started working and where she’ll remain on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s.
Holly Hartman, also a co-owner of Hattie James, said the bridal shop will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, as well as by appointment.
Holly said the idea gained steam in June, and since then they’ve all been working to put it all together for Saturday’s grand opening.
The shop is located at 121 N. Main St.
Alternative health store, Quantum Revive, offers something Henderson has never seen
An alternative health store that offers a therapeutic experience never seen before in Henderson has opened downtown.
In the Quantum Revive store, at 227 N. Main St., owner Stephanie Chrisman has invested $50,000 to set up a room that holds an energy enhancement system, she said.
Numerous black boxes face each other in the room and each generates scaler waves, which bounce against each other, spreading to cover the room and creating what is called a toroidal field, Chrisman said.
At the same time, monitors in the room emit biophotonic light that attaches to the toroidal field, Chrisman said.
The two pieces of the technology together create a zero-point energy field, which allows the body to heal itself, she said.
To get the benefits, a person just needs to sit or lie in the room for a period of time.
Chrisman said the technolgy can also neutralize radiation and helps with sleep quality, among other benefits. She mentioned several people who have already benefited from the technology at her business.
Chrisman said the alternative health shop is catching on. Quantum Revie has been open for four weeks and already there are 120 members, she said last week.
There are several options to take part. First, a person must become a member, which costs $10. Currently Chrisman has a special in which a customer can pay $55 for a membership and a two-hour session.
Normally a two-hour session goes for $90; a four-hour session goes for $160; and overnight rates are $380. Call for more information and more deals at 270-748-7884.
Three Hamilton Family Airbnbs in the downtown now
The recent opening of “The Brokerage,” a Hamilton Family Properties airbnb, brings its total to three in downtown Henderson.
Curt Hamilton said a goal with the Airbnbs was to create a market for people to visit downtown Henderson, and some of that market revolves around escaping the city for a few days for a small-town getaway.
Some of the other guests hosted in the past two years are family of people who live in town or nearby, he said. The rentals have hosted travelers who’ve come in for Evansville Otters games, music festival lovers and random travelers—the very first a man traveling from Florida all the way back home to Alaska.
Hamiton said the Rhythm River Distillery will bring in more tourists in the future.
He encouraged any owners of upstairs spaces in the downtown area to consider turning them into unique apartments and lofts for short-term rentals. He said it’s not “quick and easy” but, once finished, will support tourism and will introduce more people to Henderson.
The other two Airbnbs are called “The Lifeboat” and “The Nest.”
