The city of Henderson says 267 bills sent out recently did not correctly display information regarding Henderson Water Utility catchup bills.
Assistant City Manager Buzzy Newman said the bills did not display the payments remaining and total number of payments, which should have been indicated in this manner: (1 of 12).
That indication should have been noted next to the “Water & Sewer Catchup” line on the list of charges seen under Charge Code, he said.
Newman said this indication is important to customers so that they know that the charge listed next to “Water & Sewer Catchup” is not the total that is due over the course of 12 months. In fact, the charge listed next to “Water & Sewer Catchup” is the charge for the month, he said.
Newman said the error occurred in 267 bills out of 3,600 that are a part of Ward 3, which is a grouping of bills and not indicative of where customers live.
Newman said the error occurred at Arista, the Atlanta company that processes the city’s bills. He said it was a glitch, and local officials are unsure why it wasn’t shown on the 200-plus affected bills.
Newman said the remaining and total payment notation was something the city said would be included in the catchup bills, and the city is looking to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
