Major Stephen Story kicked off the Salvation Army’s local Red Kettle Campaign with a short ceremony in the yard next to The Vault at the corner of Main and Second streets on Friday, Nov. 17.

Bell ringers started at Sureway stores on Nov. 17 and were scheduled to start the next day at Walmart, Story said.

“When people hear that bell, they hear hope,” he said. “When they hear that bell, they hear love.”
