The Henderson Water Utility said there will be a scheduled water service interruption for North Middle School and Franklin Avenue on Wednesday, said a release from the city of Henderson.

HWUwill shut off the water supply to the affected area beginning at 5 PM. The interruption is expected to last for approximately four hours, said the release.

The shutoff is in support of the I-69 project occurring in the area, said the release.

The release said that  after the service interruption, residents and businesses in the affected area are advised that a boil water advisory will be in effect for the subsequent 24 to 48 hours. This advisory is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and quality of the water supply during the transition period.

Here are some tips:

  • Use bottled or boiled water for drinking and to prepare and cook food.
  • If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for one minute.  After boiling, allow the water to cool before use.
  • Boil tap water even if it is filtered (for example, by a home water filter or a pitcher that filters water).
  • Do not use water from any appliance connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator.

For more information or updates regarding the scheduled water service interruption and boil water advisory, visit the Henderson Water Utility website at https://www.hkywater.org or contact HWU customer service at 270-826-2824.
