Kamryn Timmons | Softball | Athlete of the Week for week ending March 21
The junior transfer from Daviess County started her Henderson County Softball career with a bang. In her debut, a 16-1 win over Owensboro, she struck out 11 over four innings while allowing just one run. She followed that with a legendary performance in a 1-0 victory over Apollo. In that game she threw a nine-inning no-hitter with 18 strikeouts. She also drove in the only run of the game. In the final game of the week, she did not pitch but went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBI in a 11-0 win over Caldwell County.
Timmons on her early-season performance: “I believe my performance so far has been good, but I definitely have a lot of work to do. My teammates are definitely my biggest supporters and without them, I wouldn’t have been able to get 18 strikeouts with a no-hitter. My game against Apollo really helped me get the feel of things and get back into the groove after I didn’t perform the best against Owensboro, but it also let me know that I need to work harder on the offensive side of the ball. Early in the season I believe my performance could definitely improve on both sides of the ball, but I am not worrying about messing up or failing anymore because I know I have seven people behind me and one in front of me that will do anything to win a ball game.”
