For the first time since the city began its mass foreclosure program, all parcels included in this initial sale have reached judgment and will be offered at the same time, said the release.

This sale follows the mass foreclosure action filed earlier this year, which targeted properties across the community with significant delinquent taxes, code enforcement liens and long-standing neglect, said the release.

The city says the mass foreclosure process will help to reduce blight, stabilize neighborhoods and create opportunities for new housing and reinvestment.

“This is an important step forward for our community,” said Mayor Brad Staton in a prepared statement. “Seeing all of these properties move to sale at once shows that the process is working. Each parcel represents an opportunity to remove blight, support new housing, and continue building momentum in our neighborhoods.”

Questions regarding the Master Commissioner Sales process should be directed to the Office of Master Commissioner at (270) 830-7881.

City’s work at Central Park playground is scheduled to go through May 18

A city of Henderson project on the Central Park Playground to remove mulch and replace the play surface with poured in place rubberized material is scheduled to run through May 18, said a city release.

The playground was closed on May 7. The reopening date is dependent on potential weather delays, said the city.

The closure is to allow improvements to the playground’s surface which involves removing existing mulch and installing a new, poured in place rubberized safety surface. This upgrade will improve accessibility, enhance safety and reduce maintenance needs for the play area in Central Park, said a release from the city.

Residents will notice orange safety fencing and “Park Closed” signage posted around the project site. This is to serve as a reminder that folks are not to be in the park during the construction period.

This project is in part being funded by the T-Mobile Hometown Grant.
