Mackenzie Burczyk | Softball | Athlete of the Week for week ending April 18
Burczyk, the senior slugger, led the way for the Lady Colonels at the plate in their three games last week. In an 8-4 victory over Boonville, Burczyk went 2-for-4, with a home run, a double, and three RBI. She was 2-for-2 with a walk in a close 6-5 loss to Castle. She closed the week with a strong 3-for-3 performance with two doubles and three RBI in a 15-0 rout of Union County. Overall, Burczyk is batting .404 and leads the team with five homers and 13 walks, while she is tied for the team-lead with 22 RBI.
Burczyk on her solid play: “I’ve been on a little bit of a rocky start. I’m trying to show out for my last season and really make my mark here. I think I’m finally starting to get in my groove of getting back to where I was the last couple of years…I want to be able to shine and just have fun for this last season.”
