Henderson police believe a call of a person with a rifle that resulted in East Heights School going into lockdown Tuesday morning was a prank.
Henderson Police Department Sgt. Bill Russell said that units arrived at the school within seconds of getting the call and searched the area.
“There wasn’t anything around,” he said.
He said there may have been a social media post suggesting the person with a rifle and then after, a person called in to report it.
“We think it was a prank.”
He said officers searched the area for about 15-20 minutes before the scene was cleared.
After talking with school personnel, the lockdown was lifted.
Rusell said some officers stayed in the area after the scene was cleared and didn’t see anything suspicious.
