EPD vet hired on as Henderson Police Department PIO
Jason Cullum has been hired as the new public information officer at the Henderson Police Department.
He formerly worked at the Evansville Police Department for 21 years, the last eight as that department’s PIO, said a release from HPD.
Cullum will replace Sgt. Bill Russell, who has been in the role for several months.
Russell will continue helping Cullum get acclimated to Henderson and will also assist with community outreach projects. After that, Russell’s work will include dealing with overtime, cars, uniforms and grant writing, he said.
Section of Wathen Lane closed starting Monday
The city of Henderson has announced that starting Monday a section of Wathen Lane from Hillmont Drive to the driveway entrance of 6781 Wathen Lane will be closed.
The closure will last until Oct. 21, said a release from the city.
No local traffic through the construction zone will be allowed during this time, said the release.
Grading work and relocating power poles will occur during this time.
City officials say residents in the Hills and Wolf Hills neighborhoods will enter/exit at Hillmont Drive. Residents north of the closure, such as those who live in Braxton Park, will enter/exit towards Green River Road and U.S. Highway 41 North, the city said.
Traffic control signage will be in place to direct traffic towards the detours, according to the city.
Milling and paving rescheduled
Milling and paving for numerous city streets that had been scheduled to begin this week has been rescheduled.
Milling will now start the week of Oct. 14, said a release from the city.
Paving will occur Oct. 23-25, said the release.
The streets are:
- 6th Street from North Adams Street to Lambert Street
- 14th Street from North Elm Street to North Green Street
- Frontier Drive from U.S. Highway 60 East to Tippecanoe Trail
- Garden Mile Road from Airline Road to the Archery Center’s gravel lot
- Harding Avenue from North Green Street to North Adams Street
- North Julia Street from 1st Street to Center Street
- Spring Garden Road from 2nd Street to Heather Lane
- Stadium Drive from Garden Mile Road to Gardengate Drive
- Washington Street from McKinley Avenue to North Lincoln Avenue
Section of Merritt Drive closed next week
Merritt Drive from Fifth to Sixth streets will be closed next week so that the Henderson Water Utility can install new valves in the water main there, said a release from the city of Henderson.
The closure will begin 8 a.m. Monday and go to 5 p.m. Friday, said a city release.
Traffic will not be allowed through the construction area, said the release.
