With just a few days left scheduled for Goodfellows donations, the organization is about $19,000 short of the $35,000 goal.

The city of Henderson released its latest update Tuesday afternoon, and the count was at $15,978.

Each year the Goodfellows puts on a Christmas show, along with gifts, for underprivileged children in the community.

Richard Pendergraft, who along with brother Larry runs the Goodfellows Christmas program, said all the toys and clothes have been ordered, and much have been delivered, though his brother still needs to pick up some of the toys.

Though they’ve been ordered, he said not all have been paid for. He said the warehouses they order from give them 30 days to pay.

Pendergraft said Monday morning that he’s “wanting Henderson to know we’re short and seeing if they want to help out.”

But “we’re going to get them paid for if I have to take a loan out,” Pendergraft added.

The money collected helps the Goodfellows provide toys, clothes, cake, ice cream and entertainment at the party at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, at South Middle School.

A day before, the Goodfellows, along with volunteers, will meet at the school at 8 a.m. for “Sack Day,” when all the gifts are placed in sacks for the children.

He said the initial cutoff for collecting donations was scheduled to be Saturday, but he may keep donations open till Christmas.

To donate, send checks to Henderson Goodfellows, PO Box 1711, Henderson, KY 42419. Or, checks can also be sent to the City of Henderson, P.O. Box 716, Henderson, KY 42419. Checks can also be dropped off at the city building bill payment area. For more information or to volunteer, call Pendergraft at 270-860-7780.
