Crews from local power companies were able to get most outages fixed just before a snowstorm hit Henderson. Now they’re on the ready for any outages that could occur from a heavy winter snowfall that began in earnest Friday morning.
“All that can be connected have been,” said Henderson Municipal Power & Light General Manager Brad Bickett, adding that the only outage remaining is for service to the Audubon State Park campground. “That’s the only outage we have remaining.”
Bickett said about 200 hazards remain, though. Most involve temporary fixes that made during the repairs throughout the week, and crews will need to go back and make permanent corrections, Bickett said. One example is a low-hanging line that needs to be placed back at its proper height, he said.
He said there were also numerous instances in which reconnections were made because of the frigid weather that would normally call for an inspection first. Those inspections will need to occur when the weather allows, Bickett said.
He said linemen will be ready to go throughout the weekend if any outages should occur.
The last of mutual aid linemen who came from six different Indiana towns to assist HMP&L were released Friday at noon, he said.
A call was made to a Kenergy spokesperson Friday afternoon, but she did not immediately return the call. As of 2:45 p.m. Friday, there were five Kenergy customers without power in the county, according to the company’s online outage map.
