The Habitat For Humanity of Henderson’s last home dedication of 2025 Friday has a couple of unique qualities.
First, the home at 354 Powell St. in Corydon is the first home they’ve dedicated outside Henderson city limits in more than eight years, said Habitat Executive Director Britney Smith.
Second, it’s the first home that has been constructed with funding help from the Henderson County Fiscal Court with the specific goal of building Habitat homes in the county. The fiscal court approved $100,000 funding that went toward land acquisition, development and construction of this home, said a release from Habitat.
The rest of the funding for this project was made possible by Henderson Habitat’s status as a Community Housing Development Organization through Kentucky Housing Corporation, said the release. This is the first use of those proceeds by Henderson Habitat.
City of Corydon officials also made a contribution to this project by helping Habitat identify buildable properties and waiving the sewer tap fee for the home build, said the release.
The family of Alex Curtis and Reyna Hernandez will live at the house. The couple has one young daughter and is expecting another child, according to the release.
“We are so excited to finally have somewhere we can actually call home,” said Curtis.
Smith said the home dedication is the fifth for Habitat in 2025. She added that Habitat has seven homes under construction currently.
