Avant Baxter | Football | Athlete of the Week for week ending Sept. 27

Avant Baxter stuffed the stat sheet Friday night in Henderson County’s 44-12 win over Central Hardin. He hauled in five catches for 145 yards, including three touchdown grabs, in addition to an interception on defense.

Baxter has been a major factor for the Colonels all season. He leads the team in both rushing and receiving, with 31 carries for 151 yards on the ground and 10 receptions for 209 yards through the air.

On defense, he has been one of the Colonels’ most reliable players, effectively collecting tackles and covering in the secondary. He is tied for the team lead in interceptions with two.

Avant on his performances: “First, I want to thank everyone who has nominated me for Athlete of the Week. This week went great for the Colonels. The coaches had put together a really good game plan so that me and the defense could make some big stops. Defense led to offense and allowed me to score on a few times, too. I also want to thank God for letting me and my team play this game, and giving us the strength and ability to work together. GO COLONELS!”
