A free concert of choral music performed by a touring group from South Carolina will be offered at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 1.

The Blythewood High School Chorale, conducted by Henderson County High School and University of Kentucky graduate Kaleb Hilton, will be on a three-concert tour of Kentucky, offering one event in Henderson and two in the Lexington area.

“This concert celebrates the versatility and power of choral music, offering a rich mix of classical, gospel and jazz influences,” said Hilton. “The program begins with the vibrant energy of contemporary works and flows seamlessly into the timeless beauty of the Renaissance era.”

The music educator added that each selection in the concert highlights “the unique ways choral music can express a wide range of emotions—whether through quiet reverence, powerful reflection or exuberant celebration—showing how music transcends time and genre to inspire and uplift us all.”

The Chorale’s music program will include “Missa Pastoril Gloria” (Jose Mauricio Nunes Garcia), “Hear My Prayer” (Moses Hogan), “Gratias agimus siri & Propter magnum glorian tuam” (Antonio Vivaldi), “Adoramus te” (Giovanni Palestrina), “Mystery” (Jennifer Lucy Cook) and “Climbin’ up the Mountain” (Stacey Gibbs).

This spring concert tour with his students is kind of a farewell tour for Hilton. After three-plus years as a high school music educator, he will be returning to the University of Kentucky in June to pursue a master’s degree in choral conducting to add to his other credentials.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. A reception will follow.

First United Methodist Church is located near the corner of Second and Green in downtown Henderson. Concert-goers may enter the double doors under the portico just off Green Street.
