University of Kentucky basketball legend Jack “Goose” Givens told an audience at the Preston Arts Center Saturday afternoon that he expects the UK men’s basketball team to have a good season this year. Many he’s spoken to expects new coach Mark Pope two or three years before he puts together a good team. Givens thinks it will happen right away.

Givens was in town Saturday to promote his new book, “They Call Me Goose: My Life in Kentucky Basketball and Beyond.” The event was sponsored by the Henderson County Public Library.

He spoke about some of the anecdotes in the book and also signed copies for fans after he spoke.

He also answered questions about games he played in during his UK career, including the 1978 NCAA championship basketball game when Kentucky defeated Duke 94-88 and other games during his career.
