Earle C. Clements Job Corps hosting hiring event

The Earle C. Clements Job Corps Academy in Union County will conduct an on-center hiring event later this month for a variety of positions.

The hiring event will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the center at 2302 U.S. 60-East in Morganfield.

Clements said it is now hiring for the following positions:

  • Buyer
  • Drivers
  • Counselor
  • RNs
  • LPNs
  • Security officer
  • CNA instructor
  • Math instructor
  • Reading instructor
  • Welding instructor
  • Electrical instructor
  • Residential advisors
  • Mental health consultant
  • Substance abuse counselor
  • Advanced welding instructor
  • Advanced heavy truck instructor
  • Advanced culinary arts instructor
  • Medical administrative assistant instructor

The Job Corps program is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor and provides career training and education for 16- through 24-year-olds at no cost to students.

The Clements center is managed under contract by Management & Training Corp. and is contracted to house 1,022 students.

YMCA hosts Healthy Kids Day

The YMCA is hosting a national YMCA event called Healthy Kids Day from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 25, according to information from the local Y.

There will be many local community partners to share their resources. And there will be interactive booths, kids Zumba, kids yoga, and hands-on fun with our local police and fire departments, according to the Y.

This is a free community event.

The first 50 youth up to age 12 will receive a special goody bag, and all attendees will have the chance to win a summer prize, including a free session of swim lessons at the YMCA, according to the Y.

Chamber hosts Ag Trivia Night

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce and its Agriculture Committee will host Ag Trivia Night, an event supporting the future of local farmers.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Future Farmers of America scholarships, providing students with access to the resources necessary for a successful career in agriculture, according to a chamber release.

It will be at 5:30 p.m. on April 30 at Boucherie Winery.

The event will start off with Acropolis Food Truck opening service at 5:30 p.m., followed by trivia games beginning promptly at 6:00 p.m.

The family-friendly event will feature a variety of agriculture-related trivia questions.

Teams of 6-8 players can register for $150 per team through the Chamber’s website.

Henderson Lions’ golf scramble is at a new location

The 4th Annual Henderson Lions Club Golf Scramble will move to a new location—the Henderson Country Club.  It will begin with lunch at 11:30 a.m. with a noon shotgun start.  

Lunch and prizes are sponsored by Hometown Roots. Local golfers and businesses are invited to participate in what is becoming a community tradition. The event raises vital funds for the Lions ongoing service projects.

Registration and sponsorship tiers are as follows:

Team Entry: $400

Hole Sponsorship: $150

Combo Package (Team and Sponsorship): $500

Participants can secure their spot via two payment methods. For cash entries, please contact Cameron Morgan at 270-875-0030 or by email at cam.morgan21197@gmail.com.

Chamber of Commerce’s golf scramble is April 24

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf classic will be Friday, April 24, at the Henderson Country Club.  

Breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

This year’s event will feature a Vintage Palm Springs theme, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for participants, including a best-dressed costume contest.

The event is presented by Field & Main Bank and Stock Yards Bank & Trust.

Registration is now open. Team entry is available for Chamber members at $600 and non-members at $900, with up to four players per team.

The event is open to golfers of all skill levels. Teams may register through the chamber website or by contacting the chamber office.
