An accident reconstructionist is piecing together a Sunday afternoon wreck that left a Corydon man dead, said Kentucky State Police.

Trooper Corey King, KSP Post 16 public information officer, said investigators are trying to determine the speed and right-of-way in the wreck that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 41 Alternate, South Green Street and Borax Drive a little before 2 p.m.

Corydon resident James Jeffrey “Jeff” Jobe, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene, King said. His grandson, Jason Jobe, 21, was taken to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, King said. According to a KSP release, the younger Jobe is in stable condition and was not injured in the wreck.

According to King, James Jobe was driving a 2023 Ford Bronco and he pulled into the intersection. Meanwhile, Lester Jones, 55, of Sturgis, was driving toward Henderson on South Green Street. Jones’ vehicle, a 1996 Kenworth tractor only struck the driver’s side of Jobe’s Bronco.

“We’re not sure who had the right-of-way at this time,” King said. He also said the speed of Jones’ truck has not yet been determined.

Jones was uninjured, King said.

The first 911 call came at 1:56 p.m., and emergency crews were on the scene for about two hours, King said.

The investigation and reconstruction is ongoing by Trooper Josh Turner. KSP was assisted at the scene by the Henderson City Police, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson City Fire Department, Henderson County Emergency Medical Services and Henderson County Coroner’s Office.

Jobe’s obituary can be read here.
