A local third grader got to visit the White House last week.

Holy Name School student Dax Lancaster attended the Great American Agriculture Celebration held on the South Lawn of the White House on Friday.

Dax, 9, said he saw President Donald Trump speak and then doing his dance.

“I was excited,” he said.

The South Lawn was filled with all types of tractors, some stationed some 20-30 feet from the White House, according to Dax’s father, Josh Lancaster.

“It’s not very often you see a tractor parked at the White House,” Josh Lancaster said.

In addition to Trump, others who spoke included Sec. of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Sec. of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Josh Lancaster finished his term as the president of the Kentucky Corn Growers Association in January. He said last summer he was in Washington for work when White House agriculture liaisons were putting together the plans for Friday’s celebration. He recently received an email with paperwork to join the celebration and asked Dax if he wanted to join.

Both Josh and wife, Kristy, say that Dax loves American history, and specifically military history, so anything connected to that in anyway he readily agrees to.

The next day, the pair visited the National Museum of American History, and spent most of their time in the “America at War” exhibit, before flying home Saturday evening, Josh said.

Josh runs L. Hust Farms and farms about 15,000 acres in Henderson, Webster, Hopkins, McLean and Daviess counties, he said. Because of his interest in politics, the Hendersonian asked Dax if he might one day make a run for an elected position. He said, no, he wants to “be a farmer” and work with his dad.
