Mid-afternoon Sunday, power outages began to be reported around the county and city.

Henderson Municipal Power & Light reported at about 5 p.m. that approximately 2,300 customers have lost power. Crews are working to assess and prioritize the issues. Affected areas include South Main Street around 41A, Sand Lane near Old Madisonville Road, and Highway 60-East around Frontier.

At 4:45 p.m., Kenergy reported that 8,330 customers across its service territory in western Kentucky are without power. Kenergy has pulled all available crews to work to restore outages, the company said.

Please do not call 911 to report a power outage.

Stay away from downed lines and any tree limbs that are near or on power lines.

Officials continue to urge people to stay off the roads, if possible.

Monday Closures

  • Henderson County Courthouse will be closed.
  • Henderson County Public Library
  • City of Henderson Municipal Center will be closed.

-Critical employees (emergency responders, dispatch, etc.) will be working.

-HART bus service will not be running.

  • Henderson County Judicial Center will be closed.

– Henderson Circuit Court cases (Judge Wilson) will be heard Wednesday January 8 at same time.

-Henderson Circuit (Family) Court (Judge Curlin) EPO/DVO cases will be held Friday January 10 at 1:30 p.m.

-Henderson District Court traffic division 2 cases (Judge Newman) will be held Monday January 13 at same time.

Schools

Monday is the last day of winter vacation for Henderson County Schools and Holy Name School. Because of the forecast, parents should prepare for students to stay home Tuesday.

Warming shelters in Henderson  

An overnight warming center at The Salvation Army located at 1213 Washington Street in Henderson is now open.

A Red Cross warming center at The Gathering Place, 1817 N Elm Street, Henderson, was scheduled to open Sunday evening.
