The Vault wedding and event venue in the former bank building at 208 N. Main St. is under new management.

Doros and Ellada Hadjisavva of Henderson, owners of Acropolis Catering & Food Truck as well as Venue 812 in Evansville, have taken over management of The Vault from Hunter and Annalisa Thewis, who own the adjacent Antler Specialty Goods coffee shop.

“We bought the business,” called The Vault LLC, under which the Thewises managed the venue, Ellada Hadjisavva said in a phone interview Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, the Thewises noted that they “are a few weeks out from expecting our first baby and wanted to make sure the venue and its clients were left in the best hands. We have LOVED this business, our clients, vendors, and caring for this special historic space. Coordinating has been such a joy and we couldn’t be happier with this transition.”

“We’re thrilled” to be managing The Vault now, the Hadjisavvas said in their own Facebook post.

Ellada Hadjisavva, who will now be the face of The Vault, said the Thewises have personally notified people who have booked future events at the venue about the change.

Now she is booking new weddings as well as birthday celebrations, club and corporate functions, reunions, school events, showers and more.

The Hadjisavvas are applying for an alcohol license so they can serve drinks at The Vault.

Other than that, she said, “Nothing will change. Everything stays the same. No vendor restrictions (meaning clients can use any caterer they choose). Everything will go as before.”

The Hadjisavvas came to Henderson three decades ago. They initially operated a restaurant at the former Holiday House on South Green Street, then opened The Acropolis, a Greek restaurant, in Evansville, first on U.S. 41-North, then on Green River Road.

Now they operate Venue 812 on North Boeke Road in Evansville as a banquet facility and their catering kitchen, as well as the Acropolis food truck.

“We started in Henderson and we’re coming back to Henderson,” Ellada Hadjisavva said. “It’s been a long-term goal to provide something (here) in the hospitality and event space. We’ve already done a lot weddings (and) catering (for events at various venues) in Henderson, Union, Webster county. Now we can host in Henderson.”

“The goal is make The Vault a destination,” she said. “We want to market it in surrounding areas. We’ll draw people from Evansville, Louisville, Nashville, Bowling Green” who are attracted by the aesthetics of The Vault, the capability to have an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception and, she hopes, the prospects that a new hotel will be developed across the street in the Soaper Building, providing proximity for overnight guests.

“It’s good change for the Hadjisavvas,” she said. “It’s a good addition to our portfolio.”

Those interested in more information can contact Ellada Hadjisavva at 270-860-8214.

The building had previously served as the home of Henderson National Bank and First National Bank. It had been vacant for several years when Steve and Sarah Jenkins bought the property through their company, 4242OH LLC, and extensively remodeled the building as well as the former adjacent vacant lot at Second and Main streets, which is often used as part of events at The Vault. The venue opened in late 2023.

4242OH LLC remains the building’s owner.
