FLASH ROUNDUP: Flash one game out of first in OVL

As of July 3, the Flash is 19-8 on the season, a half-game out of first place in the Ohio Valley League.

Henderson Flash 10, Fulton Railroaders 4

July 3–After a day off, the Flash beat Fulton 10-4. Both teams were scoreless through the first four innings, but Henderson would score in each of the next four innings to claim the victory. Overall, the Flash stole 11 bases in the game. Tyler Rinehart put the Flash on the board with a solo shot in the fifth. Later in the inning, Brayden Mineo launched a three-run homer of his own, putting the Flash up 4-2. After two more runs in the sixth, Mineo scored on a bases-loaded walk to Jacob Froehlich to begin the seventh inning. Rinehart then singled to drive in two more runs as Jacob Tucker and Noah Briggs scored. Henderson scored its last run in the eighth.

Rinehart finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Mineo drove in four runs and scored twice. Keegan Gulley collected two RBI, while Gunnar Waldrop stole four bases and scored two runs. Egan Prather started the game going four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Mason Krantz earned the win pitching one inning and allowing one run.

Henderson Flash 14, Paducah Chiefs 4

July 1–The Flash scored multiple runs in four different innings and stole 12 bases to earn a huge win over the Chiefs. Peyton Tatum singled in the third to score Drew Isenberg. Dom Davis later hit a two-run single, scoring Gunnar Waldrop and Tatum to open up a three-run lead. The Flash would actually trail 4-3 after the bottom of the inning, but a three-spot in the fourth and the fifth would give them a commanding lead. Four more runs in the ninth inning would seal the Chiefs’ fate. Tyler Rinehart scored on a passed ball. Robert Hicks tagged up on a lineout by Waldrop. Alec Satterfield scored on a groundout by Tatum. Jacob Froehlich singled to drive in Isenberg and make the final score 14-4.

Tatum was 2-for-6 with three RBI. Davis went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Rinehart collected three hits and scored three runs. Zach Mason was the winning pitcher, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Seth Galloway added two scoreless innings. Luke Parr struck out the side in the ninth to end the game.

Henderson Flash 5, Paducah Chiefs 0

June 30–There was no letdown in the second half of the doubleheader as the Flash shut out the Chiefs, 5-0. In the second inning, Noah Briggs scored on a wild pitch before a groundout from Robert Hicks allowed Tyler Rinehart to score. Briggs drove in a run in the third to make it 3-0. In the sixth, Hicks drew a bases-loaded walk to score Rinehart again, then a wild pitch allowed Raymond Long to score the game’s final run.

Hicks finished the game with two RBI. Rinehart scored two runs. Briggs had a hit, an RBI and a run. Payton Helmerich started the game throwing three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Mason Bratcher picked up the win, striking out nine over four scoreless innings.

Henderson Flash 7, Paducah Chiefs 3

June 30–Game one of a doubleheader against the Chiefs went in favor of the Flash. With Henderson trailing by a run, Gunnar Waldrop hit a solo home run in the third inning to tie the game. Waldrop would add his second solo homer of the game in the fifth inning. Peyton Tatum also singled to score Brayden Mineo, giving the Flash a 5-3 lead after the inning. Two more runs in the sixth inning would lead to a 7-3 victory for Henderson.

Waldrop finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Tatum, Jacob Tucker, and Dom Davis each collected an RBI as well. Ashton Tindle earned the win in relief, throwing 3.2 innings of one-run ball, while striking out six. Bryce Humphrey added two scoreless innings to close the game.

Henderson Flash 2, Fulton Railroaders 7

June 29–The Flash were unable to muster much offense in a 7-2 loss to the Railroaders. Henderson got on the scoreboard in the top of the first when Gunnar Waldrop reached on a double and then advanced to third. He later came home on a Jacob Tucker groundout. The Flash would not score again until the ninth when Tyler Rinehart crossed the plate on a passed ball.

Rinehart was 2-for-4. Tucker had the team’s only RBI. Waldrop and Peyton Tatum had the team’s only other hits. Reed Rheinhardt took the loss allowing five earned runs over four innings. Riken Burkett threw three innings, giving up one run and striking out three.
