Homeless Fair Monday in Chloe Randolph Organization parking lot

The Habitat for Humanity of Henderson is hosting a Homeless Fair Monday at the parking lot next to the Chloe Randolph Foundation office on Washington Street.

The fair will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Habitat will provide information for and flyers for veterans who are homeless or housing insecure, said a release from Habitat.

The Homeless Fair is one of three events that Habitat is taking part in in observance of 9/11.

On Friday, Habitat teamed with vets and teenagers from Audubon Kids Zone for a neighborhood clean-up.

On Wednesday, the Henderson Habitat Re-Store will host a Patriots Day sale from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., said the release.

All veterans and first responders will get 20% when shopping in the store.

City begins fall street work Sept. 16

Starting Sept. 16, the city of Henderson will begin milling streets to prepare for upcoming patching, paving and repair projects, said a release from the city.

The work will occur over a two-week period but could change due to weather conditions or other factors, said the release.

The city advises residents that it may be best to avoid the streets on which the work will occur as much as possible because there may be temporary closures and/or delays during construction.

Residents are asked to have all vehicles moved from the street by 6 a.m. each day until the work is completed, said the city.

If road closures are required, detours will be set up. There will be flaggers and/or signs to direct traffic during construction, according to the release.

The streets on the work list include:

  • 6th Street from North Adams Street to Lambert Street
  • 14th Street from North Elm Street to North Green Street
  • Frontier Drive from U.S. Highway 60 East to Tippicanoe Trail
  • Garden Mile Road from Airline Road to the Archery Center’s gravel lot
  • Harding Avenue from North Green Street to North Adams Street
  • North Julia Street from 1st Street to Center Street
  • Spring Garden Road from 2nd Street to Heather Lane
  • Stadium Drive from Garden Mile Road to Gardengate Drive
  • Washington Street from McKinley Avenue to North Lincoln Avenue
