Field & Main Bank Chairman and CEO Scott Davis moved into the role of president of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.

Davis has been on the state chamber’s board in his current stint since 2016 and served as the incoming chair the previous year.

The state chamber is set up for the incoming chair, chair and immediate past chair to work closely together, Davis said. After a year serving as chair, he’ll move into the immediate past chair role.

He said his position will allow for Henderson to have increased visibility in the state. It will also allow Davis to further build relationships that could help the local community in the future.

A part of the state chamber president’s role is to advocate on behalf of the organization, which could be at presentations and forums as well as in front of state legislators, Davis said.

The state chamber is currently advocating for improving early childhood education programs in the state both because it will help children succeed and it is a workforce issue as parents figure out how to balance jobs and childcare.

Henderson County Judge-Executive Brad Schneider, who served one year on the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s board before he became judge-executive, said Davis’ new role will benefit Henderson. Every time Davis is introduced as the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce chair from Field and Main Bank in Henderson, people statewide will hear it.

“It raises the profile of Henderson,” Schneider said. “It’s a big deal.”

As president of the board, Davis will have a front row seat in deciding agenda items for the state’s chamber, which will have an impact on local businesses, Schneider said. Additionally, Davis will also understand what’s going on in Frankfort and how it affects western Kentucky, which in turn concerns Henderson, Schneider said.
