Henderson County Schools officials are alerting parents to changes in Kentucky laws that go into effect this school year, which begins Thursday.

The new laws mentioned in a letter that was posted and shared via social media last Thursday include information regarding:

  • A moment of silence at the beginning of each school day
  • Prohibiting the use of cell phones during school days, except in certain situations
  • Designation traceable communication to be the exclusive means for a school employee or volunteer to communicate with students
  • Requirements for over-the-counter medication in schools
  • Schools’ role in providing information about sexual extortion

More detailed information from HCS can be found here.
