Ethan Peckenpaugh | Wrestling | Athlete of the Week for weeking ending Jan. 10

Ethan Peckenpaugh put together a dominant weekend on the mat, going 4–0 at the Bear Down Invitational at Central Hardin on Saturday, Jan. 10. Competing in a 30-team field, Peckenpaugh pinned his opponent in each match to claim the championship in the 175-pound division, helping the Colonels finish fourth overall.

Peckenpaugh’s strong week began earlier, as he also recorded a pin during the Colonels’ senior night victories over Russellville and Hopkinsville on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Reflecting on his performances, Peckenpaugh said, “First things first, I want to give all praise to God and the opportunity He has given me. I am so honored to be nominated as Athlete of the Week. I entered the tournament undefeated and wanted to stay humble while continuing to win and keep my streak alive. I went 4–0 and won the championship after some hard-fought matches against tough opponents.”

With four tournaments remaining before the postseason, Peckenpaugh says his motivation is higher than ever.

“I’m motivated to keep pushing and finish strong, placing at regionals to qualify for state. I appreciate all the support from my family, the community, and my coaches, Jermaine Poynter and Josh Bell, for pushing me to be the best I can be.”
