Name: Nick Whitt

Age: 38

Education: Henderson County High School (2006); University of Kentucky; B.S. (2010); University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, J.D. (2014)

Professional experience: Licensed attorney with 10 + years in wealth management, specifically in the area of trust/estates and non-marketable assets; City Commissioner (2023 – Present). Board Member/Foundation Chair for the Rotary Club of Henderson. Former Board Chair for United Way of Henderson and Habitat for Humanity of Henderson. Former Board member of the Henderson County Family YMCA and the Henderson Area Arts Alliance.

Current occupation: Associate Legal Counsel and Wealth Specialty Asset Manager, VP

Family: Wife, Kendal, and four children (three girls ages 12, 5, and 10 months and a 2 year-old son)

Why did you decide to run for this office?

Simply put, our work is not yet complete. I want to continue the progress we are making at the City level to improve the lives of those across our entire community. As a native of Henderson, I am committed to giving back to the community that helped shape me into the person I am today while working to improve our community for future generations.

Why do you believe you are the best choice for this seat?

Since taking office in 2023, I have been committed to serving citizens all across our community, regardless of their political orientation, socioeconomic status, or the area of the community in which they reside.

As a licensed attorney, with an investment and financial background, I have the ability to understand the various ordinances, budgets, municipal orders, and other items that the Board of Commissioners encounters on a weekly basis. As an incumbent during a time of growth for our community, I understand the time commitment and work involved to effectively carry out the duties of the office. As a volunteer in our community, I am acutely aware of the diverse needs of our residents and continue to learn and listen to their needs.

What are your top priorities for the next term, if elected?

My priorities remain the same as when I first took office: investing in and supporting the safety of our community, providing activities and resources for our youth, supporting economic development/expansion, supporting affordable housing initiatives, improving the inner-city, and ensuring the City is the best employer possible.

A final brief statement to support your candidacy.

Throughout my time in office, I have strived to be accessible, responsive, transparent, and committed to positive change. My commitment going forward is to serve our community in the same way I have so far, by being respectful to all I interact with, engaging in open dialogue, being accessible, being open to new ideas, and making decisions that will have a positive impact on the greatest number of Hendersonians.
