Hendersonians should expect some delays in the coming weeks as I-69 construction will bring lane closures and shifts, said a release from I-69 Ohio River Crossing.

The release detailed what motorists can expect.

From Wednesday to Friday (March 6-8), outer Second Street will be reduced to one lane with flaggers controlling traffic, said the release. Additionally, lane closures and shifts are expected in both directions of outer Second Street near the U.S. 41 overpass from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and officials expect that delays will occur, said the release.

The closure is needed so that workers can demolish a retaining wall in the area, said the release.

On March 11 and 12, the lane closures and shifts will continue, as will the flaggers controlling traffic, said the release.

Also on these days, U.S. 41-South will be reduced to one lane at the KY 351/Second Street interchange starting at about 9 a.m. Again, delays are expected, said the release. Work is expected to be complete by late afternoon, said the release.

This closure is needed so that workers can set large concrete beams on the new U.S. 41-South bridge, said the release.

Also starting Monday (March 4), one lane of U.S. 41-North will be closed starting at KY 425 and going to just north of Audubon Parkway. Crews will complete rehabilitation work on the Audubon Parkway bridges that span over U.S. 41, build sound walls and work on Audubon Parkway ramps, said the release. This closure is expected to last up to four months, said the release.

On March 11, lane shifts and lane width reductions will occur on Audubon Parkway East at the bridge over U.S. 41, said the release. Oversized loads will be restricted from using the ramp from U.S. 41-South to Audubon Parkway East, said the release.

Officials urge motorists to slow down, stay alert and watch for new traffic patterns.
